Welcome! Let your journey begin.
You don't need to be perfect.
Come as you are.
Many people arrive for their first visit with at least one question they're a little shy to ask. This page answers all of them — so you can simply arrive.
House Nine isn’t just a business, it’s a reflection of what we believe in. We’re here to create work that matters, led by a shared commitment to quality and care.
Our Approach
House Nine founders - Sarah & Miho
The 9th house in astrology rules over fate & fortune, higher learning & expansion, spirituality & wellness, leadership, honesty, pilgrimage, as well as kindness & compassion. Jupiter, the ruling planet over the 9th house, is synonymous with ‘guru’ in Vedic teachings, which commits us to a learning path. A path of curiosity, fluidity, and openness.
Every one of the qualities has become a central value in how we operate and relate to healing, wellness, and growth. We wish always to remain humble and malleable, growing into our highest selves to offer our community the highest quality services. We see our name as an embodiment of these values and a tattooed reminder of our truest intentions.

Meet our Team
We pride in our team’s expertise and hospitality to provide exceptional service.
Your First Visit
No surprises. Just a clear sense of what happens, in order, so the only thing left to do is show up.
When You Book
Booking an appointment & intake form
You can book appointment 24/7 on our website. We use an appointment software called Vagaro. If you have used it at another spa/salon, you may use the same log in to log into our booking system.
We'll ask you to fill out a health history and privacy policy form through Vagaro. It isn't just a formality, it will shape how your practitioner works with you.
A credit card is required to hold your appointment, we don’t charge until the service is over. However, we do have 24 hour cancellation policy. To avoid the fees, please reschedule or cancel your appointment before 24 hours of your appointment time. You can do so via Vagaro or text or call us.
When You Walk In
A welcome, not a waiting room
You'll be greeted at the front desk and offered a cup of house blended herbal tea before anything else. There's no rush, you can arrive as early as you’d like. Arriving ten minutes early is part of the experience, not dead time before the "real" appointment starts.
During Your Session
You're always in control (massage sessions)
Your practitioner will do a verbal intake once they take you into the room. They will check what you would like to focus on during the session, areas to avoid, and if you’d like to add on any enhancements such as herbal compress, face massage, foot scrub, and more. Your session includes complimentary mini hot stone or silicone cupping, so feel free to ask about it.
Your practitioner will let you know which way to lay down first, facing up or facing down depending on the area you’d like to get worked on. They will step outside of the room while you undress. You can undress to your comfort level, most people undress down to under wear. You will lay on the table under the flat sheet and the blanket. Practitioner will only uncover the area they are working on.
During session your practitioner will check in about pressure, temperature, and comfort. If something doesn't feel right, you can say so at any point — that's expected, not awkward.
Your practitioner will not initiate a conversation unless you do. It’s time for you to relax, you don’t need to talk during the session or feel awkward for sleeping.
After Your Session
Stay as long as you'd like
You're welcome to linger in the tea room afterward. Many clients sit for ten or fifteen minutes simply noticing how they feel before stepping back into their day.
Book your next session
You will receive a personalized note from your practitioner for at home care recommendation and when best to come back next.
We are your space for self-care. We advocate for routine wellness sessions to keep you well and healthy. We encourage our clients to get monthly massages for best results. You can check out our membership program to make it easier for you to get a routine care.

Our approach is entirely goal-oriented and outcome-based. Instead of running through a standardized full-body routine, we sit down with you to analyze your posture habits and physical stressors. If you have severe shoulder knots from a high-stakes work week, we may spend the majority of your session targeting those specific tissue restrictions to restore your mobility, rather than diluting the time across unaffected areas.
-
To successfully counteract a demanding, 40-hour work week, consistency is key. For preventative maintenance and to keep chronic shoulder and neck tension from locking up, we recommend integrating clinical bodywork into your routine every 3 to 4 weeks. For acute pain or intensive posture correction, a short-term bi-weekly schedule may be recommended initially.
-
We do not have a facility to service two people in the same room, however, our clients likes to come together and have two sessions in separate rooms. You can enjoy our complimentary herbal tea together in our tearoom before and/or after the session.
-
The majority of our clients are Portland tech professionals, engineers, and architects who spend long hours at workstations. We specialize in target-driven clinical bodywork, combining deep tissue therapy and myofascial release to safely unwinding the chronic neck and shoulder tension, chest tightening, and tension headaches caused by prolonged screen time and ergonomic stress.
-
Yes. Since our services focus on therapeutic outcomes, clinical bodywork, and preventative medical nutrition, they are typically eligible for Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card payments. We can provide you with an itemized receipt or superbill detailing the treatment codes required by your provider for seamless reimbursement. We always recommend checking with your specific plan administrator regarding their documentation requirements.

Absolutely — and this is central to who we are. Our practice is grounded in Health at Every Size® (HAES) principles. Every body is welcome here, without weight-related commentary, judgment, or pressure. Our table accommodates all body types (up to 300lbs), and our practitioners are trained in trauma-informed, body-neutral care.
-
A few things: we are a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist owned massage studio, we serve an herbal tisane with every visit, our practice is trauma-informed and HAES-aligned, and we specialize in modalities suited to chronic stress — Ashiatsu, Craniosacral Therapy, and Lymphatic Drainage alongside Swedish and deep tissue. We're a full-spectrum wellness practice, not a single-service studio.
-
We have a 24-hour cancellation or rescheduling policy. If you cannot make your appointment, please call to cancel as soon as possible. Any appointments canceled within 24 hours with notice will be charged 50% of their scheduled service. No-call, no-show clients will be charged 100% of their scheduled service.
-
We do NOT accept insurance for in-network coverage or MVA/PIP. If you would like to self-submit, we are happy to provide a superbill after your appointment.
Our Philosophy
"You are the expert on your own body. We're simply here to support what it's already trying to do."
We are trauma-informed, weight-neutral, and welcome all — which means we never assume what you need, and never expect you to explain yourself.
Two ways to begin.
